Batik Hanbok [Talk! Talk! Korea 2016]

Hanbok having catch my eyes since Geum Jan Di (Jewel in The Palace) and Hwang Jin Yi (Tales of Gisaeng) era. In that drama hanbok is very colorful and elegant with the ethnic ornament attached. Sometimes sexy without revealing much skin. The wide chime give a princess like feel. I wanted to have hanbok so bad.

As korean culture 10 years ago wasn't very well known in my country, korean stuff was very hard to find. As time goes by, k-pop and k-drama's fan has become larger and become potensial market. Some online shop start to sell hanbok, but the price is so high for me. Besides, wearing hanbok is not common thing. People will see me as weird. So, even if I bought a hanbok , I didn't have confident to wear it.

It takes me 10 years to finally have a hanbok. A modern and basic hanbok consist of chima and jegori. The idea comes before Idul Fitri (Islam Holy Day). My family wanted to make family uniform using batik (Indonesia traditional garment). Every family member could choose their own design. I choose to make a hanbok. Hanbok is a clothes that covering all of the body, so it is

Wearing hanbok givemea drama feeling, I want to dance like Hwang Jin Yi and cook like Geum Jan Di. The respon from people around me is very good. Many people notice that it is a Korean hanbok. They said it was an inspirational idea to combine 2 culture. I hope people will see through me, How I love both culture, Indonesia and Korea
